Dinner Dance

Our Dinner Dance was held in the Granville Hotel last Saturday night with a very good attendance present. With Ricky Grogan acting as MC it was a most enjoyable night.

Club President Br. Killian and Br. Frank represented the De La Salle Order. The principals of St. Stephens and St. Declans Paudge Morris and Kevin Moran were also present on the night. The night began with the presentation of the Eastern junior B hurling medals to the team, followed by the presentation of the county and eastern U-21 hurling medals to the three in a row history makers. After the meal, the various player of the year awards were presented. Shaun O’Brien, in his debut season, won the senior hurler of the year and Kenneth Byrne was named intermediate footballer. Brian Cunningham was selected as intermediate hurler and the junior award went to Luke Lalor. U-21 captain Shane Ryan, who won his fourth county medal in this grade, was named U-21 hurler. Ciaran Corrigan was chosen as young footballer. Sean Carton crowned a good week for the family when he was named as the young hurler of the year and the much coveted Liam O'Donnell memorial trophy was presented to Sean by Yvonne Kearney. Club chairman Seamus Quirke, then spoke and in his speech he announced that Joe Kenny was selected as club person of the year in recognition of his work as chief first aid officer in the club. It was then on to celebrate and enjoy the night. We would like to extend our compliments and thanks to the management and staff of the Granville Hotel for the excellent meal they provided and to Sounds for the music. Thanks also to the organisers, Alan Duke, Rose Madigan and Ricky Grogan who worked tremendously hard over the past few weeks and made sure that the night was a success. The organising committee would like to thank all those who supported the night.
