We lost a De La Salle Legend this week with the sudden passing of Wattie Walsh. Deepest sympathies are extended to all the Walsh family ⚪️💔
Wattie was one of the best players to ever wear our famous white and red and was also one of our greatest supporters through good and bad times. Wattie Walsh appeared on the club scene in the early sixties with a wave of young and exciting players that would serve De La Salle for the next two decades and propel us into serious senior hurling and football contenders.
Wattie Walsh was recognised as one of the best forwards in the game and this attracted the attention of Waterford Senior Hurling Management as he lined out for the Deise on a number of occasions.. ⚪️💙
When he retired from playing Wattie remained loyal to his beloved De La Salle and was one of our most ardent supporters around the Barrack Street and Roanmore Terrace Areas of Waterford City. He was particularly thrilled when we captured our first senior title in 2008 and certainly got ‘some mileage’ out of that victory.
To the time of his death he was a regular ticket seller of our fortnightly lotto draw.
Wattie always had a very pleasant and jovial disposition and always had a smile for everyone.
He has now gone to his eternal resting place to meet some of his great De La Salle friends and teammates who have gone before him 🕯️
Go bhfaighe tú suaimhneas siorái I bhFlaitheas Dé, a chara dílis
