De La Salle 6-5 - St. Carthages 3-6
Pride of place this week goes to our U-13 hurlers who were crowned county champions in Walsh Park on Saturday afternoon. This was an excellent game of hurling with some really good players on both sides and it is fair to say that the eight point winning margin was not a true reflection of the game but we finished strongly scoring an unanswered 1-3 to secure the victory. Well done to both sets of players on making it a great contest.
St. Carthages made the better start and led 1-5 to 1-1 midway through the half. However, a first half hat trick by outstanding captain Jack Twomey and a brilliant defensive effort led by Conor Keane saw us lead 3-2 to 1-5 at the break. A fourth goal from Jack Twomey and an incredible finish by Jack Douglas looked to have secured the game but St. Carthages hit back and we led 5-2 to 3-6 with five minutes to go. St. Carthages spurned two goal chances before a composed finish from Daniel Lalor and three further points cued the celebrations when the cup was presented to Jack Twomey
