- East Junior B Hurling Championship Semi Final
De La Salle 2-14 Mount Sion 1-8
Our junior hurlers qualified for the final where they will take on Kilmacthomas, with a good win over Mount Sion in Walsh Park last Saturday.
The early exchanges were even with points from Luke Lalor and Adam O’Sullivan making it 0-2 each after seven minutes. A minute later Mount Sion goaled. Adam O’Sullivan pointed a free in the 10th minute before two Mount Sion points saw them lead 1-4 to 0-3 after fourteen minutes. We dominated the rest of the half and points from Stephen Jacob (2), Adam O’Sullivan, Lee Hayes and Conor Bohane put us ahead before an injury time goal from Stephen Jacob made it 1-8 to 1-4 at the break.
David Sutton opened the second half scoring in the second minute but three minutes later we were reduced to fourteen players. Aidan Gannon pointed a free in the seventh minute and there was no further scoring until Mount Sion pointed in the 16th minute. Eamonn Fitzgerald pointed in the 19th minute and two Mount Sion points in the 23rd and 25th minutes made it 1-11 to 1-7. However, we finished strongly with points from Aidan Gannon and a superb score from Lee Hayes before man of the match Stephen Jacob scored his second goal after an excellent run and finish in injury time. There was still time for Eamonn Fitzgerald to point before the final whistle sounded.
