MARC MCDONALD TOURNAMENT
The Marc McDonald Tournament took place over the last four Sundays with the finals on 27th September. All our U10 & 11 players participated, 50 in total. Thanks to all parents for having the boys in Gracedieu each Sunday. The hugely impressive skills & performances on display were all thanks to the Tournament coaches & mentors; Derek Grant, Brendan O'Shea, Brendan Mullaly, Declan Walsh, Eddie Roche, John Keane, Brendan Lawton, James Butler & Owen Dunphy. The Tournament is thanks to the organisational skills of Eamonn Fitzgerald who reminded us today of Marc’s legacy in the Club at such a young age. Thanks to Deirdre Byrne Secretary Juvenile Club, for all her hard work too. Billy O'Neill and his team have to be complimented for having the pitches in superb condition. A big shout out to Teva Ireland for sponsoring the trophies & St Dominic’s Credit Union for their continued support of our Juvenile Club. Finally thanks to the McDonald family, Marc will always be remembered by us.
FORMER CLUB MEMBERS
Congrats to Conor Bohane on winning the Kerry Intermediate Hurling Championship on Sunday with Dr Croke’s. It was their first hurling title in 19 years & not a bad turn around for Conor & his new club in a few months.
He was a great club man for the time he was here, coaching many an underage team and was junior hurling captain in 2017.
Another former DLS member winning a County Final, this time in Camogie! Congrats to Sarah, of our own very active Sheehan family, and her Myshall team who came from 5 points down to win the Carlow U-16 A camogie title 3-7 to 2-7 against Bagenalstown Gaels. Sarah played with DLS since age five and in her year with us 2018 when, captained U12A winning team. Sarah also won an U13B and played on U14 team beaten in Feile na nGael All Ireland semi-final.
