CLUB LOTTO
Just a gentle reminder that The Club Lotto is our main fundraiser in these challenging times. The next draw for €15,750 will take place, within the Guidelines, on Monday 9th November 2020 and we ask everyone to consider purchasing tickets online; http://www.delasallegaa.ie/lotto/lotto.html Thank you for the continued support.
CLUB LOCKDOWN QUIZ
Fifty four family teams participated in our second Club Lockdown Quiz on Sunday night with a rugby and golf dimension with an expanded number of kids questions added. Well done to James Quirke and Joey Carton on the organisation. It was a great craic at no cost, with Meat vouchers sponsored by the Club for Tom Kearney Butchers, for the top three. The Winning Team was Darragh Fitz with a closely contested second and third spot between Jack Hannon and the Cartons. Well Done every one and I hear Ricky Grogan doing next week’s questions.
CAMOGIE FUNDRAISER RUN
Despite the horrible weather Sunday, it was great to see the weather not stopping the Camogie Club get the 5K Virtual Fun Run/Walk Fundraiser completed this weekend. There are some great photos on the Camogie & GAA Facebook Pages. Remember, all funds raised to be returned to your team mentors by Sun 8th Nov and a huge thanks to everyone from The Camogie Committee
INTER COUNTY
Congratulations to our club members Shane McNulty, Jake Dillon, Kevin Moran, Jack Fagan and Shaun O’ Brien on the Munster Championship semi-final win against Cork. Well Done to all the Waterford team on a great win where the Waterford team performed in every position on the pitch and prevented Cork playing to their potential. It was a huge honour for the Club to see Shane, Jake, Kevin and Jack start with Shaun in the extended panel.
Kevin, fourteen years after his Championship debut led the way with a fine opening score within the first minute. Shane took a fantastic score after twelve minutes to level the game from deep having caught a puckout from the keeper. Kevin also had a great pass to Dessie Hutchinson for his first point. Jake pressed hard threateningly in attack winning vital scoring frees. Jack worked extremely hard on his championship debut and was closely marked with fouls leading to Horgan being booked. OB was ready as ever to be called upon and roll on the Munster Final and Limerick after that performance.
CONDOLENCES
Our thoughts & prayers this weekend were with the Kelly family as mother of Bro Patrick Kelly RIP & our good friend & supporter, Sean Kelly MEP, Hannah Kelly was laid to rest. Our deepest sympathies & condolences to Sean Kelly and the Kelly family at this sad challenging time. On our 90th Anniversary in the Club, Iar Uachtaran CLG Sean Kelly officially opened our Gracedieu Grounds & Facilities. He has also been very supportive of all our endeavours as a Club. Bro Patrick RIP, during his short life had a huge influence on football development in the College & Club. He trained a winning County football team to A County honours all the way through U12,14,16 & Minor, ably assisted by Tom O Leary. He also played Junior football with many from that minor team. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
