CLUB LOCKDOWN QUIZ

Forty five teams participated in our third Club Lockdown Quiz on Sunday gone with an expanded family general knowledge aspect brought to the questions by Ricky and the Grogan family. Thanks to all the Grogans for the questions and Joey Carton & James Quirke on the organisation. The Coopers (Owen & Majella Dunphy) regained their crown with Meat vouchers sponsored by the Club for Tom Kearney Butchers, for the top three.

INTER COUNTY

A great win for Waterford Camogie Sunday beating Westmeath by 2-17 to 0-10. Well Done to all the girls and the management team but especially Brianna, Beth Abby, Keeley and Fergal. We're super proud of you all.

Beth was on fire today scoring a personal tally of 1-14 to be awarded Player of the Match. The DLS girls played a huge role in the win with Beth constantly threatening from frees and play by constantly finding space including turning over a Westmeath defender in 29th minute to take a super point from play bringing her tally to nine points in the first half. In the second half, when Westmeath were grinding their way back into the game, Beth scored a super goal from a through ball into space she found, to stabilise Waterford's lead. Abby was constantly threatening for the whole game making some great runs into space, winning ball when necessary and top class passes and layoffs in attacking play. Abby scored a beautiful point after twisting and turning to beat defenders after a super pass from Beth in the second half. It was fantastic to see Keeley introduced in the 23rd minute of the second half and was solid in defensive play right through to the end of the game. Brianna was as reliable and solid as ever in goal taking confident possession and ensuring accurate fast distribution, when called upon. In the second half, Brianna had a super save and cleared under immense pressure from the forwards. Fergal was a positive influence from the side-line on the players reacting quickly to Westmeath play & ensuring a return to an All-Ireland Quarter Final.

CAMOGIE

Our U8 girls are training on Saturdays at 11am in our Cleaboy Grounds. If you have a 6 or 7 year old looking to learn camogie, why not drop her down to ‘give it a go’ with Charlotte & Rose. They’ll go through all the Covid protocols with you, maintaining physical distance.

CONDOLENCES

Deepest sympathies to Lorcan Mulhern and his family on the death of his father John, RIP. Lorcan played with us from 2008 to 2012 and won the U21 County Hurling Championship in 2008 & the U21 Football in 2009.

He was a sub on the senior hurling team when we won in 2012 and was a regular on the Intermediate Hurling team. Lorcan also played on the Intermediate football team same year when we lost by a point again.
