AGM
History was made in the Club last Monday when a large number attended our first ever online AGM, made possible by our Club Secretary Paul Keane & Tommy Ryan on IT. Chair Seamus Quirke complimented all in his address on coping with the challenges of the last year. All Club members and friends who died in last twelve months were also remembered.
The Secretary Paul Keane recounted the year’s activities, which was busy despite the challenges and he commended the cooperation of all in complying with the restrictions.
County Teams
Congratulations were extended to all our County representatives and particularly the five involved with the Senior Hurling Team who lost in an All-Ireland Final to Limerick.

Field
Our grounds in the Cleaboy and Gracedieu are kept in pristine condition and thanks were extended to Billy O’Neill, Doc Dalton, Danny O’Byrne and Christy Russell with a special mention to Michael Murphy and John Kelleher for all their help over the years.
Déise & Club Lotto Draws
A special word of thanks was expressed to Noreen Cotter and Maureen Keane for all their efforts on the Deise draw. On the Lotto, thanks were paid to everyone who contributed and a special thanks to Tommy Ryan for work with the on-line lotto and to the Lotto Committee of Olivia Russell, Charlotte Brenner, Dano O’Shea, Johnny Walsh and Seaghan Walsh. In the Treasurers Report, it was emphasised how important the Lotto is in funding the day to day running of the Club.
Development Work
An update was presented on the new Floodlit Training Pitch and two proposed additions of a 50m astro-turf running hill and a walking/jogging track around the training pitch.
TEAMS:
The activities of our teams were recounted for the year, in a Covid hit season that saw leagues abandoned and a shortened season format for Championships to be completed.
Our Senior Hurlers fell to Mount Sion in the Quarter Final and thanks were extended to the players and the management of Bryan Phelan, Peter Hearne, James Quirke, Stevie Brenner, John Keane, Donal Treacy, Alan Duke, Tommy Ryan, Michael Casey and Joe Kenny plus their backroom and medical teams.
Our Intermediate Hurlers progressed to the knockout stages, losing out to a strong Portlaw team and appreciation was extended to manager Alan Fitzgerald and his backroom team of Eddie Barrett, Matthew Barden & Leon Mullaly.
Our intermediate footballers campaign ended against Bunmahon and gratitude was extended to Kenneth Byrne, his backroom team and first aid Joe Kenny and Michael Casey.
Our Junior B hurlers were defeated in the Eastern semi- final by eventual winners Clonea and we extend our thanks to manager Paudi Brosnan and his backroom team of Lee Casey, Luke Lawlor, Willie Power and Johnny Walsh.
Our minor hurlers progressed to the knockout phase where we were defeated by Abbeyside and we extend our thanks to Kyle Sinnott, Jake Dillon, Kieran Wymberry and the team.
Jerseys
A special word of thanks for Lorraine Duke who always has the jerseys in pristine condition.
Camogie
Our Camogie Club continues to go from strength losing out narrowly to St Annes in the Semi Final. Well done to the entire panel, management team of Conor O’Toole, John Mullane, Stewart Murphy, Joey Carton, Derek Healy, Fergal O’Brien, Conor O’Toole and the first aid and backroom team.
At underage the foundations are being laid for the future competing in the A division at u14 and u16, losing the u14 County Final narrowly to Tramore and losing the u16 semi-final to a very strong Portlaw team.
Juvenile Chairman’s Report
The Club fielded six hurling teams from u11 to u17 and all teams competed in A competition with exception of the u 14 team who won the county title in Division 3. We were in u 13A and u 15A finals winning the Under 15 final defeating Brickey Rangers. Football saw us winning the Under 12A title and summing up Paudie Brosnan paid credit to and thanked all the underage coaches, mentors, volunteers, parents, field committee and juvenile committee.
