IHC Eastern Quarter Final DLS 2-23 (29) Dunhill 4-18 (30). After extra time we went out of the Championship to the narrowest of margins but with a huge pride in the performance of our Intermediate team, panel, management & side line team. The opening few minutes saw Evan Whelan score from play & Kyle Sinnott pull off a great reaction save. The progression of the game saw an intensity maintained that saw some great short range & long range frees taken by Brian Cunningham & Eoin Madigan to leave us 1-06 to 0-4 points down at half time. Paudi Nevin who must have covered every blade of grass on the pitch, set the tone of the intentions for second half with a beautiful long range point to open our account. Yet again we hit the crossbar, the post & Aidan Gannon had a point blank definitive goal amazingly saved by the Dunhill keeper in the 59th minute. In the 61st minute a free converted saw the game drawn 3-13 to 1-19. In extra time it was an intensely fought contest with the break score line of 4-16 to 1-22. The closing stages saw another great save from Kyle, Dean Twomey hit the post but at the close of play, we were down by a solitary point. This was a proud and passionate display by each & every player on a night that could very easily have been ours. Whilst a number of players got on the scoreboard, a special mention must go to Eoin Madigan who was solid at centre back & scored six points. Well Done to each & every one of you, a fantastic game.
Our Junior Hurlers gave a battling performance in the Junior B Hurling Eastern Championship Semi Final, played in Butlerstown. De La Salle 3-20, Erin’s Own 3-14. We started brightly and threatened Eirn’s Own goal on a number of occasions. Brian Phelan struck over a number of frees before he had to retire due to injury. Our first goal came just before the break, from David Ryan and the half time score read DLS 1-13 E. Own 1-7. The third quarter was much closer with Erin’s Own scoring 1-5 to leave the score at the water break DLS 2-15 E Own 2-12. The last quarter was nip and tuck all the way. The margin down to 2 points with normal time almost up. A late point from Seán Tracy which was quickly followed by a second goal from Stephen Jacob wrapped up the game to give us an unlikely winning margin of 6 points. We now face Ballygunner in the Eastern Final, Best of luck lads & Thanks to Eamonn Fitzgerald for the match report. Panel: D. Treacy, T. Crotty, Dean Casey, M. Joy, C. Sheehan, C. Kong, J. Cotter, C. Murphy, Dan Casey, C. Dalton, B. Phelan, S. Jacob, A. Wymberry, L. Dwyer, L. Hayes, D. Ryan, J. Campus, J. O’Donoghue, R. McCarthy, L. Lalor.
It was a fantastic win for our Minor Hurlers beating Abbeyside DLS 1-18 (21) to Abbeyside 2-13 (19) in Div 1 Semi Final to earn a County Final place v Ballygunner. The lads played much of the game with 14 players and a superb performance in every position on the pitch and an unrivalled passionate determination to win ensured a well-deserved victory. Huge well done to players, panel, management & the supporters who travelled to Carrickbeg. Scorers; Jack Twomey 1-11, Daniel Lawlor Conor Keane 0-3 each, Kieran Kennedy 0-1. Two Finals in 24 hours, well done Junior & Minor Hurlers!

Our very first man to help out the committee in the kitchen, well assisted by Suzanne & Lisa. Well Done to Rose & Charlotte on a busy morning in the shop with the sale too. Many of the kids sale items sold out very early but watch Facebook for an itemised list of remaining sale items which will be available on Saturday morning from 1130am to 1pm.
