COMMUNITY

Our community refreshment’s team have gone on well-deserved holidays. Complimentary refreshments will resume on Wednesday 17th August 22.

Great to see Jan & Jonathan from our juvenile Club Sponsors, St Dominic’s Credit Union up abut Gracedieu during the Cul Camps with huge praise for all our volunteers who ensure our kids have so much fun this summer. Jan, Jonathan and St Dominic’s Credit Union have very much become a part of our community.

CAMOGIE

A big number from the Club travelled by bus to the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-final in Croke Park that saw Waterford set the pace and tone but unfortunately lose out to Cork 0-15 Waterford 0-10. It was a great Waterford performance that saw Cork come from five points behind in the second half to take the lead for the first time only four minutes from end of normal and emerge victorious at the final whistle. Our girls gave it everything and did us so proud.  Brianna was as solid as ever on goal making a fantastic double save from Emma Murphy, Keeley did a great job on Katrina Mackey, Beth got the better of Katie O’Mahony with a fantastic work rate and some great scores totalling four by final whistle while Abby put a fantastic ball through for a goal opportunity by Roisin Kirwan that she put over the bar. Abby’s personal tally was two points . There’s some great photos and videos on our social media of our girls in Croke park and good wishes videos from our camogie teams.

This week our two U14 teams are in action with the Reds playing Portlaw away on Thursday 28/7/22 t 615pm whilst the White team are at home to Cappoquin in Gracedieu at 7pm same night. Our U12 girls are playing Clonea away on Tues 2/8/22 at 630pm.

GAA

Congrats to Waterford U14 Football Development Squad, managed by Eddie Mulligan who won the Jim Power Shield over the weekend, emphatically beating Limerick in the Final. Well Done to Tom O’ Mahoney & Adam Kearney who are members of this squad. Unfortunately, Adam was was on holidays for the Finals Day but had played in the qualifying rounds. Tom O’ Mahoney is grandson of Tom O’ Leary who coached Eddie with Bro Patrick at U14 football when they won the U14A County Championship. It’s now gone full circle as Eddie coaches young Tom and there’s a great photo of the three of them on social media.

Our U15 Hurlers are away to Roanmore at 7pm on Monday 1st August and would love to see good numbers there in support.

Our Minor Hurlers went down on the A Hurling Championship to Ballygunner 2-19, DLS 3-07. Some great action shots on our social media thanks to John O’ Neill. Huge positives to be taken from the game as the championship progresses and great to see such great support in Ballygunner. Next up is Brickey Rangers Wednesday 27/7/22 at 730pm in Bushy Park and Fourmilewater at 730pm on Wednesday 3/8/22 in Ballymacarbry.

Well Done to our Intermediate Hurlers who had a great win v St Mollerans in Dunhill over the weekend, 2-15 to 2-09, great stuff lads.
