CAMOGIE
Our u12 red & white squad girls were both victorious in the A semi-final (reds) v Gailltir & the C Shield semi-final (whites) v Tramore this week with great camogie skills on view by all 4 teams in glorious sunshine. Well done girls, mentors & supporters. Hard luck but well done to our Junior squad, our second adult team, who made history for the Club playing their first group game away against a strong Portlaw team. Well done to our Seniors on a good, impressive win in their 2nd group Championship game v St Annes in Dunhill. There’s a busy week ahead on fixtures, enjoy girls; Tues 16/8/22 U16A Semi Final DLS v Modeligo, 7pm in Gracedieu. Thurs 18/8/22 U14C Shield Semi Final, DLS whites v St Declan’s, 7pm in Gracedieu. Sun 21/8/22 Senior Championship Round 3, DLS v Cappoquin, 11am in Cappoquin. U12C Shield Final, DLS whites v Dungarvan, 215pm in Carriganore. U12A Final, DLS reds v Clonea, 415pm in SETU Arena Carriganore. Best of luck to all our 5 Camogie squads & management teams - doing us proud. Please come along & show your support for the girls. There are some great shots, thanks to John O’ Neill, on social media of our U11 boys V Abbeyside before the Minor game during the week, well done boys. Our U13A Hurlers went down to Roanmore earlier in the week but competed all the way to the final whistle in a close game, despite the score. Hard Luck to our U13B Hurlers who also went down at home 2-2 to Abbeyside’s 3-6, well done lads on a great battling performance. Well Done to Eddie Mulligan (Manager) & Adam Kearney (Goalkeeper) who won the Cross Provincial Shield with the Waterford U14 Football Development Squad beating Carlow & Wexford. Tom O’ Mahoney is also a part of the squad but was on holidays for this competition. Hard Luck to our U15 Hurlers who went down to Ballygunner with goals being the difference. Congrats to our Minor Hurlers who beat Abbeyside away 1-19 to 0-18 in Group stage of Championship, next up we’re home to Lismore on Wednesday 17/8 at 715pm.
Well Done to our Junior Hurlers on a 2-22 to 0-20 win v Butlerstown at Gracedieu, in the Junior Hurling East Championship, great stuff lads. The Juniors now play Mount Sion B in the Semi Final weekend of 25/28th August 2022. Hard Luck to our Intermediate Hurlers who went down with a hugely under strength squad to Ferrybank. Great challenge all the way lads and next up for them is the Quarter Final on Thurs 18/8/22 away to Michael MacGraith in Dunhill at 615pm . Good win for our Seniors in the County Senior Hurling Championship as the lads got back focused, putting last week behind them. Well Done, Lads. De La Salle 0-24, Passage 0-12. A good solid team performance with the game never in doubt as we took charge from the throw in being eight points up at half time. Scorers on the day were Reuben 0-7 from frees, Brian Cunningham 0-4, Eddie Barrett & Jack Fagan 0-3 each, Cormac McCann & Eoin Madigan 0-2 each and one each for Tom Moran, Eddie Meaney and Kevin Moran. Next up in the Senior Hurling Championship is the Preliminary Quarter Finals where we play Tallow on Sunday 21/8/22 in Fraher Field at 315pm.
