CAMOGIE
Our adult camogie teams had a nice double with wins on Sunday 11th September. In the Senior Championship Round 5, DLS beat An Rinn 3-18 to 0-3 in Gracedieu. In the Junior Championship Round 4 we beat St Annes DLS 2-6 to 2-0 in Cleaboy. Both club teams have now qualified for their respective Senior & Junior championship semi-finals, well done girls. Well Done to our Minor girls who had a great win v Tramore during the week, 3-9 to 3-8 in a cracking game.
GAA
Our Minor Hurling County Champs continued their celebrations but delighted to see that these included visits to St Stephen’s Street School, where many were past pupils of, and all our juvenile squad training sessions in Gracedieu. All the boys and the Club, appreciate this time which inspires our juvenile teams.
A huge well done to our minor footballers who beat St Marys 2-13 to 2-09 in the Championship. Twenty-four earlier we were on cusp of giving a walkover when the players rallied amongst themselves to field a team. Despite the first round of the football championship following on the back of a County Final win & many playing a school challenge same day, they weren’t giving a walkover. With squad spirit & Club pride like that, it’s no wonder they’re County Champions. We fielded a team that challenged a strong football team all the way to the final whistle, to come from behind & claim a great win with a classic long range skilled shot finding the keeper off his line by Jack Mitchell, securing the victory. Well done to full squad on a fantastic performance by all and next up is Clashmore/Kinsalebeg in Clashmore at 7pm on Wednesday 14th September.
Our U15 Hurlers play Mount Sion in County Semi Final Tues 13th Sept at 645pm in the SETU Arena.
Our U7 Hurling groups trained together in Gracedieu on Saturday. Great fun was had by all, and the boys were delighted to share the celebrations with the Minor Cup and the Minor team. Congrats to both our U7 players of the week, Jackson Grant for Gracedieu Group & Jake Moore for the College Group. Well Done boys & mentors, keep up the great work.
There are some great shots of the U13A and U13B action from Shield Semi-final in SETU Arena, thanks to John O’ Neill. The boys beat Stradbally in Div. 1 Plate and went down by three points in the Div. 4 Cup. Well Done to both teams, coaches & mentors.
Hard luck to the u13 'A' Hurlers who were beaten 3-09 : 3-011 by Clann Na Gael in the Plate Final in Fraher yesterday evening (Sunday).
