East Intermediate Football Quarter Final
Newtown 1-7 De La Salle 0-9

Our intermediate footballers exited the championship when we were beaten by Newtown after a hard fought game in Carrickbeg last Tuesday. It was a game in which we dominated possession for the most part but poor shooting and decision making combined with gifting our more economical opponents a goal ensured our defeat. Credit to Newtown who played the last third of the game with fourteen men for coming up with the winning score right at the end.
Newtown opened the scoring in the second minute and Oran Keevers equalised in the sixth minute. James Grogan pointed in the eight minute but two Newtown points had them ahead by the 12th minute. Ian Cantwell levelled matters in the 14th minute but Newtown regained the lead three minutes later. Points from Dylan Foley and Stephen Walsh had us back in front by the 25th minute only for Newtown to restore parity. Colm Morris then pointed a free after he was fouled himself in the 28th minute to put us ahead 0-6 to 0-5 at the break. The second half began with Newtown goaling inside the first minute when we failed to control a high ball in the goalmouth and it was palmed to the net. Colm Morris replied with a point a minute later and Newtown pointed in the 14th minute to lead 1-6 to 0-7 midway through the half. Points from Eoin Madigan and Colm Morris in the 18th and 24th minutes made it all square again. We then managed to kick three wides before Newtown lifted the siege and won a free three minutes into injury time which they converted to claim a semi final place.

East Junior Football Championship

Roanmore 4-10 De La Salle 0-1

Our understrength junior footballers proved no match for a strong Roanmore side in Walsh Park last Sundy. Even though we were missing half a dozen regulars through injury and holidays and hadn't played since July it is fair to say we would have been up against it anyway but credit to the lads who were there who gave it their best. We now look forward to playing Kill in the junior ‘intermediate attached’ final

Scorers: Joey Twomey 0-1.

Panel: Eamonn Dalton, Peter O'Hagan (vice-captain), Darragh Fitzpatrick, Jeff Cahill, Paul Quinlan, Alan Fitzgerald, James Coad, Eoin Casey, Adam Deegan, Joey Twomey, Keith Cooney, Evan Whelan, Conor Bohane, Barry Twomey, Graham Drennan, Shane Quinlan, Adam Hayes, Jack O'Donohoe.

County Minor Champions
Congratulations & well done to our U-18 girls who won back to back minor A Championship titles with a 3-17 (26) to 2-11 (17) victory against Gailltir played at the WIT Carriganore Campus on Sat 29th Oct on a fine pitch in good weather conditions. This game was played at a very fast pace with plenty of skill and scores on show from first to final whistle, with play swinging from end to end throughout the entire game. We led by 2-7 (13) to 0-3 at half time. Our opponents came back at us in the second half narrowing the gap to 3 points at one stage but our girls showed their togetherness by pushing on again running out 9 point winners at the final whistle. Well done to both teams on a sporting tough encounter. After the game the Waterford Camogie County Board Chairperson Ita Murphy presented the Johnny Flynn Memorial Cup to our captain Courtney Healy. Courtney thanked her team mates for all their commitment and hard work shown throughout the year, Rose Madigan on first aid, Micko Casey physio for all his hard work with the squad injury wise, mentors Decky Drohan, Derek Healy, Joey Carton and to all our supporters for attending games throughout the year, very much appreciated. Courtney also thanked  our opponents Gailltir for a good game. This was a fine way to finish up the playing end of the season for us. This group of girls have have shown their togetherness down through the years winning an U-12 A title in 2010, U-14 A in 2012, U-16 A in 2014 & U-18 A in 2016. With only 4 of the panel overage for next years minor age group this is a fair achievement by this group of girls. The player of the final award went to the tremendously talented Abby Flynn scoring 2-2 from play.
