RESULTS

GAA;  Our U7 players had a Hurling Blitz in the DLS College Field Saturday this morning with players from Gracedieu & College training locations involved. Well Done boys, the skills prove the hard work paying off and don’t forget there’s regular photos posted our social media with these boys photos being the most popular of the week. A reminder also that our Juvenile Club is kindly supported by St Dominic’s Credit Union. Our U13 Footballers went down narrowly 3-3 away to Ballinacourty’s 2-9 in the Championship. In the U14 Feile, our footballers did us proud beating Tramore in a very close encounter, going down to St Oliver’s in the second game and in the last game kept it close all the way with Ballinacourty. Well done to all the players and mentors. Well Done to our Minor Hurlers on a great run of results, most recently beating Clonea convincingly on Sunday following a good win v St Carthages on Wednesday too. There’s some great photos by John O’ Neill of the Mount Sion and St Carthages games on social media. Our Junior Hurlers lost out by the closest of margins 2-14 to Erin’s Own 2-15 with next game away to Dunhill on Thursday 2nd September at 630pm. In the Intermediate Hurling Championship we went down narrowly 0-11 to Erin’s Own 0-13. It was a great battle all the way by the lads and we were unlucky in the end with a run of missed chances being our downfall, as we ran out of time to take the Game. Best Wishes to the lads on their Knockout Round 1 game v St Mollerans in Kill at 530pm on Sunday 5th September. We had a little unsettled start to the Senior Hurling Championship going down Dungarvan 2-20 De La Salle 1-16. Few lessons to be learned and we look forward to getting our campaign back on track and thanks to John Kelly Opel for their continued support.

CAMOGIE; Well done to all the girls on the u8 Camogie team who hosted Butlerstown and two Gailltír teams in a blitz in Gracedieu. Great afternoon of camogie all round thanks to the good work of the girls and mentors. Many thanks to our club girls Ella Holohan & Emily O Mahony for refereeing these games. Our U10 girls also hosted same morning two Butlerstown and two Gailltír teams in the county blitz in Gracedieu with a great afternoon of camogie by all the teams. Keep up the good work girls and mentors. Big thank you to club girls Isobel Boland, Mya Kelly and Sarah Heery for refereeing these games. Was a busy Saturday Camogie morning away from the Club also with a challenge match in Mooncoin. Well Done to the girls that played and thanks to Mooncoin Camogie for hosting. Great skills on show by both teams, keep up the excellent work girls. Hard luck to our U12 Red squad who lost out narrowly by 3-0 to 2-0 away to An Rinn during the week. Well done to both teams on a great match. Well done to our U14 girls on a good win v Dungarvan during the week. It was a great match with a tough battle in the 2nd half. The girls have now qualified for the semi-finals. Keep up the great work girls & mentors.

ABBY FLYNN & FEILE

A fantastic photo of Abby Flynn, aged 11, at Feile 2012 caught the eye of many making the front page of the Irish Independent. This week, it got great interest on social media, nine years later with Abby scoring two points from play in last Saturday’s Senior Quarter final v Tipperary. Our 1st Feile trip in 2012 to Cuala CLG as our host club in Dalkey, has many fantastic memories as we got to the Div 2 final in Croke Park after an epic semi-final played. We have travelled to five Feiles, once to Dublin, Cork, Mayo & twice to Ulster (Derry & Belfast) & hosted once. We’ve won two Shield finals, lost one cup final & twice beaten semi-finalists. Great days, great memories.
