CAMOGIE

Well Done to all involved in the organising of our medal presentation evening for the 2022 Senior League & Championship winning squads in the Tower Hotel, on Saturday. A great night was had by all with fantastic meal and great craic and dancing to the Shellakybookies & DJ Roy. The League and Championship medals were presented by our own former Inter County and continuing Club stalwart and All-Star Kevin Moran.

Let’s talk GAA did an interview with Brianna O’ Regan, our Waterford and Senior All Star nominated goalkeeper. If you missed it, here it is;

1. Favourite save you have made? Penalty save for De La Salle in semi-final this year.

2. Best score you’ve ever seen? Tony Kelly side line in Munster final 2022

3. Dream seven (1 goalie, 2 defenders, 2 midfielders and 2 attackers): Mags Darcy, Iona Heffernan, Alex Healy, Lorraine Bray, Alannah McNulty, Beth Carton, and Niamh Rockett.

4. Favourite inter county moment? Getting to All Ireland Semi-final 2022

5. Favourite club moment? Winning the county final 2022

6. Is there any rule that you would change in the game, and if so, why? Get rid of the skorts.. they are uncomfortable and shorts would be so much better.

7. One thing people don’t know about you? I love a good jive!!

8. How would you like to be remembered? A hard worker, well-mannered and an honest player

9. Favourite boots to wear? Adidas Cop Mundial

10. Do you have any pre match superstitions? Packing gear bag night before and I make sure I sit beside same people.

Best Wishes to all our girls taking part in the Waterford Camogie Development initiative starting this Saturday in the SETU Arena.

U20A HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Congratulations to our U20s on a result of Abbeyside 0-13, De La Salle 1-14 (17) to be crowned the JJ Kavanagh U20A County Champions. Half time saw us three points down 0-9 to 0-6 and chasing the game. However, that all changed at the start of the second half when a long ball though, won by Alex Keane in the middle of the field found Reuben who blasted to the net. In a closely contested second half, we imposed a winning determination which saw us crowned Champions by four points. Well Done Lads & Congrats to Reuben on a well-deserved Player of Match, taking all our scores. There are some great shots by John O’ Neill on our social media.

COMMUNITY COMMITTEE STEPS CHALLENGE

De la Salle GAA & Camogie Club are delighted to take part in 'Ireland Lights Up 2023'. As part of the ‘Ireland Lights Up’, Irish Life will host 'Healthy Clubs Steps Challenge' through their MyLife health app. The challenge, hosted on the MyLife app, asks each club and their community members to collectively walk 4,000 kilometres, which is approximately the distance around Ireland. This is a fantastic opportunity to use our new walking track and floodlights in Gracedieu and the entire community to come together to walk and enjoy a cuppa afterwards. We will commence the challenge with throw in on Wednesday 11th January at 7pm and it will run for five weeks finishing on the 15th of February. Check out our social media posts for all the links needed and updates.
