WellKids Salle Og continues indoors in Gracedieu, every Saturday morning at 10am. A great morning’s training for our U8s indoors with a mini blitz in the College Gym. Congrats to Seth Kehoe, College Player of the week & to Alex Power, Gracedieu hurler of the week. Well Done boys, keep up the great work practising as the skills are hugely improving. Well Done to Shaun O’ Brien, Shane McNulty, Jack Fagan and Reuben Halloran, who despite a slow start ran, finished strongly to win by twelve points, over Laois in the League. Reuben scored two points and Shane one, well done lads. CONDOLENCES
A dark cloud has hung over the Club, this past week. Ronan O'Connor or ROC, as he was known to most sadly passed away. Roc was one of life's true gentlemen and a chap who was loved by all who knew him. An avid Manchester United fan, Roc gave many years’ service to our club, lining out in both football & hurling. Ronan started out in St Stephen’s Street Primary in 1988 and it was through there that he made so many lifelong friends and was introduced to his beloved hurling on Saturday mornings in Cleaboy, under the watchful eye of Brother Virgilius. Ronan was always one of the first names on any De La Salle GAA team sheet, that he was eligible to play for, from juvenile right up to adult level. He was on the Feile na nGael team in 1997, won Junior Hurling title in 2017 and won a U-16 Div. 1 County Championship title in 1999, amongst other GAA accolades & accomplishments. During the recession and being the skilled carpenter that he was, Roc headed off to Canada to find work. During his time there he lined out for the Calgary Chieftains GAA Club, who posted a beautiful tribute on all social media. Whilst in Calgary Ronan met his beautiful wife Miriam Romo who hails from Mexico. The happy couple came to live in Ireland after they were married in Mexico in 2017. In 2020 they welcomed their son Nathan. Ronan couldn't wait to get Nathan up to the club, so he was buzzing to get him up to Well Kids last Saturday morning. Everyone is fondly recalling the slagging with the boot Saturday. Ronan will be sadly missed by all who knew him from GAA to Soccer, he was quite the all-rounder. We offer our deepest sympathy to his loving wife Miriam, son Nathan, his heartbroken parents Pat and Carole, sister Arlene, brother Barry, sister-in-law Fatima, brothers-in-law Martin and Juanpablo, nephew Shane, mother-in-law Lola, extended family, relatives, and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
